Updates

August 15th Another non-update (sorry, sorry!), but this is IMPORTANT. It seems that my page has become a bit TOO popular for my own good, and I am now getting increasingly frequent bandwidth abuse warnings from Concentric (my ISP and site host). I first started getting these last year, and I easily remedied the problem by moving all my images to another server. Everything was fine up until a few weeks ago, when I started getting the warnings again on especially busy days. Apparently just the HTML alone was causing me to go over Concentric's bandwidth limit. Now I'm getting them almost every day, and they're threatening to shut my webspace down if I don't do something.

I think this is quite ridiculous, of course, I only have about 1,000 unique visitor sessions per day, which is actually quite low. Plus, like I said, all my images are on another server, so I can't imagine why Concentric puts such ridiculously low bandwidth limits on their users' "free" webspace. Oh wait, I know why. They want people to be forced to spend more money on a "service upgrade," of course.

OK, enough ranting about my sucky ISP (they're owned by the big "M," you know...) What have I done about this problem? Well, you may notice that the page you are reading now is at a new URL. My boss has oceans of empty space on his server (unlimited traffic too, yay!) so I have decided to leave the front page at Concentric, and stick everything else on his space. That way no one has to change their links/bookmarks to the front page. (However, you WILL want to update them if you have something linked in the interior of the site.)

(Whew) Anyway, the move was a time-consuming hassle, but everything should be straightened out and functional now. Let me know otherwise.

Now that that crap is behind us, let's get back to business. I'll be returning in the near future with that Ian Corlett interview, at the moment I'm preparing what I think is a pretty damned good one, so watch for that. Hopefully it should be up within the next week and a half or so. See you then!

August 11th Sorry guys, not really an update, but I think the little piece of news I have for you is even better. Ahem. So.... guess who e-mailed me yesterday?

Ian Corlett.

Yes, you read that right, Ian Corlett, Goku's original US voice, e-mailed ME! So what did he say? Not much, but he offered me an interview, so naturally, I'm already working on it. Extremely, totally, unbelievably cool! My life's a little busy at the moment, but rest assured that I'll be working on this, and I'll let you guys in on the details as the situation develops.

August 5th Alright you vultures, you can stop your pestering, the update is here. Some cool stuff this time, but unfortunately I STILL haven't finished any of the truly important things like the obscenely past due manga editorial and that little off-topic project that I've been babbling about.

This time I've got six great opinion essays, a new pick of the moment, and a few nifty awards to show off. Plus, I've somewhat updated episodes 15 and 16 so you people will stop bugging me about them. So what's the main event? A very interesting and enlightening (reprinted) interview with Gen Fukunaga, CEO of FUNimation that I'm sure 90% of you have never seen. Naturally, my extensive commentary is included as well. This one's a must-read folks, go to the very bottom of the opinions page and there it is.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go remove whatever it is that crawled into my refrigerator and died. I've been putting it off for quite some time, but that horrific smell just keeps on a-spreading and is beginning to permeate the entire house.

Whew, and as if that wasn't bad enough, these "seasoned" potatoes I'm eating taste like butt.

July 14th OK... Well I promised to be back within four days, so here I am. Unfortunately, my little "project" still isn't ready yet (this time-compressed statistics course I'm taking is utterly kicking my ass on many levels, mostly timewise), and I'm afraid I can't put up what I don't have. But I promised goodies, and a promise is a promise, so I've got 4 new opinion essays for ya. Sorry about that being ALL I have, but that's just the way things worked out.

So when will I be back next? Hmm... this time I'm not going to be stupid and make any time commitments, so just keep an eye out for me. I'll be around soon enough.

Ah yes, one more thing: If you have access to the Spanish station Telemundo be sure to watch weekday mornings at 9. Why? Because they're now showing UNCUT, UNCENSORED DBZ in Spanish! I'm insanely jealous since I don't have this channel, but those of you who do are in for a real treat. I hear the Spanish version is fantastic. Man, what I wouldn't give for Telemundo right now... I've been wanting to see Spanish DBZ since forever! Oh well, at least I still have International Channel.

July 10th Well, I guess I owe you all an explanation. I said on the Fourth that I'd be back within a couple days, but I wasn't. Oops. Ya see, it's like this: A bunch of people came over to my house and threw this inpromptu barbeque, partly to celebrate the holiday, partly to say goodbye to my brother who moved away yesterday. So rather than update the site, I was hanging out with them all day. By that evening... um... well, let's just say I was in no condition to do anything except dance around like a jackass and hug people. I spent Monday recovering from my "condition" (it's all my friends fault, he forced me to drink the evil, leperous distillment). By the time Tuesday came around, the week had started up again. Boom, before I knew it, it was Saturday! So anyway, sorry about that. As it turns out, I'm busy AGAIN this weekend, but I PROMISE to be back here with goodies within... oh... let's say four days. OK? OK!

July 4th Happy Birthday, Declaration of Independence! Yep, that's right. It was 223 years ago when we showed those Brits who wasn't gonna deal with their crap anymore. Anyway, all I have so far this week is ten new opinion essays, but they're really good, so go read them. I'll almost certainly be back today or tomorrow with something really cool, but it's not quite ready yet. So check back throughout the next few days.

Oh, and new counter! Some of you may have noticed that the last one was BROKEN all week, so I pretty much gave up on it. Let's hope this one is more dependable.

One last thing: be sure to check out the new Pick of the Moment in the Links section, I think you'll all enjoy it.

June 27th Bad news, guys. Really freaking bad. I'm so pissed about this, I could die. Well, it seems my video capture software has decided that it can't detect my video card anymore, so, well... you know. There will be no "Stuff They Didn't Show You" this week, and I don't know when, or even if, I'll be able to get the next gallery up. Believe me, I'm as disappointed as you are.

There's still hope however, because my friend can do vid caps on his machine, and I may be able to go over to his house and get what I need. But guess what? The card he uses is on the blink right now too! I'm hoping his problem will be a simple one to fix, because mine certainly isn't. I wrestled with the damn computer for hours on end trying to get it to work, and it only made things worse.

So that's my story, I don't know what else to tell you. I spent all my update time this weekend trying to fix this stupid problem, and I'm afraid I don't have anything else for you guys today. All I ask is that you don't send me angry e-mails, because this really wasn't my fault, and I did my best to remedy the situation. I'll be back hopefully within a week with an update on my situation, a whole crapload of opinion essays (I have over FORTY of those to deal with!), and maybe a surprise or two. Oh yes, and that manga editorial REALLY needs to get done. Keep checking back, I might be around sooner than you think. And once again, I'm sorry.

June 22nd Not really an update, just had to fix a little something. People, I'm very disappointed in you. Yes, it was my mistake, but it's been there for over three months and NONE OF YOU CAUGHT IT!! The following was included in my April 10th update:
"I've modified "The Third Season: Some Speculation" (on this page) since it was badly out of date. It now reflects the latest developments. Read it, it took me a while to finish."

I was about to go back and update this section once again with yet MORE of the latest info, including a link to my editorial about the third season, so I went to the online version of my site today while I was at school just to asess what needed to be changed. So I clicked on the link, and to my horror, I saw that.... (gasp)... I had never uploaded the file with the April 10th revision! The updated version was just sitting there on my hard drive, and had never even gone online! And NOBODY NOTICED, even though I specifically mentioned that the file had been changed. (Sniff) I feel so unimportant. Heh, no WONDER people continue to e-mail me with "news" about the third season, the "speculation" essay that's been up there is as old as Kami.

So anyway, it's been updated for real this time, I promise. Go ahead and click on the link in the quote. AND NEXT TIME I SCREW UP, DON'T BE AFRAID TO TELL ME, GOD DAMMIT!

June 20th Galleries 4 and 5 of "The Stuff They Didn't Show You" are up, plus the final four opinion essays before I enact my new policy. What's this "new policy" you ask? Read starting from the fourth paragraph under Opinions in the Introduction for the skinny.

And that's not all that's going to change. I've been doing some thinking, and I've realized that my old way of handling link requests just isn't working anymore. Check the Links section, again, in the Intro page. And go to the links page itself, you'll notice some changes.

That's about it for this week, be back Sunday!

June 13th Galleries 2 and 3 of "The Stuff They Didn't Show You" are now up, along with ten new opinion essays. That's about it. I know a lot of you are waiting for me to put up your links/opinions, both of which I'll be doing more of next time. And my links policy is about to change, just so you know. I'll give all the details next week.

As a side note, there's a site that you guys should really check out. It seems that Hironobu Kageyama, Monolith, and Kenji Yamamoto are getting back together to do more DBZ songs, And they want the FANS (both Japanese and American) to come up with the lyrics! Check out this site for more info, you have until the end of June. I myself am working on something, and I think my song will turn out pretty good. Heh, then again, this is coming from a guy who thinks "Kung Fu Fighting" is inspired lyric genius and one of the best songs ever made, so who knows?? In any case, thanks a million to Nattou Matsuoka for tipping me off to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

June 7th I wrote that date on this very same "updates" page one year ago, and now I'm back there again! Wow. Some cool new stuff this time, so here we go. The "big news" is of course the unveiling of a brand-new, extremely cool section of the site. You'll have to check out my special anniversary editorial to find out about it (that is, if you haven't clicked on the cupcake on the front page and read it already).

So what else is new? Well, um... nothing! But I'll be back next week, that's right NEXT WEEK, with some new (long overdue) opinion essays, and some other stuff. See you then.

June 1st Heh, so much for that "updating more often" bit. Sorry about that, but last month I had to do about ten thousand things, it was a very, very busy time. I really expected to put up at LEAST two updates, but it didn't happen. Oh well. Anyhoo, I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things now, so bear with me. If you've sent me e-mail within the last six weeks or so, I still may reply to it. There's a whole bunch of stuff in my "needs reply" box that I need to attend to. Speaking of e-mail, I've changed the FAQ once again. Please read the next-to-last question (about replying, or the lack thereof) for some updated information. Getting a lot more mail lately, folks, and I need to say a few things about it.

So what's new this time? Well, nothing but a GIGANTIC editorial containing my thoughts on the new episodes. (I had to pre-empt the one about the Viz translations, that'll be up next time). Now, before you complain about the meagerness of the update, you should know that I'll be back in less than a week. Monday the 7th is a very special day, and it deserves a special commemoration. Anybody know what it is? Yes that's right, it's the one year anniversary of DBZ Uncensored! What do I have planned? I'm going to be making an exciting announcement about an EXTREMELY cool new feature that will be coming to the site within the next few weeks. I won't spoil the surprise, but let's just say it's something I've wanted to do for some time, and many of you have asked for it specifically. Other than that... hmm... I'm not sure what I'll do yet. We'll see.

By the way, I thought Phantom Menace rocked. I plan to put up a completely off topic essay about my experience waiting in line, plus my review of the movie, within a couple of weeks, so watch for that.

Oh and rest in peace Owen Hart! WWF Raw last Monday was the saddest two hours of television ever! If I hadn't been around a bunch of guys at the time, I would have been crying like a baby (especially during Vince's tribute. That piano piece was just heart-shattering.)

See you soon guys, and BOY is that counter getting close to 100,000! Wouldn't it be PERFECT timing if it went over on or about next Monday? (hint, hint!)
